Transporting delicate products requires more effort than those that are resistant to mechanical damage and weather conditions. Companies strive to secure pallets with their goods so that they reach customers fully functional and in perfect condition. What does this process look like? We will discuss that in today's entry.
What is used to secure pallets for transport?
One of the most commonly used materials for securing pallets with goods is undoubtedly stretch film. There is nothing surprising about this – it is characterized by high flexibility, and at the same time, high resistance to mechanical damage. Well-stretched film improves the stability of products on the pallet and prevents them from falling off. It protects the transported goods from rain or snow during handling, prevents the goods from getting dusty while waiting in the warehouse, and also makes it difficult to steal them quickly. In the case of some goods, cardboard corners are also additionally placed on the edges before covering with film. These perfectly protect the shipment from, for example, accidental dents.
How are goods covered with foil?
Manually covering each pallet with film and cardboard corners is of course time-consuming and not always precise. Therefore, companies invest in automatic pallet wrappers. The machines secure goods for shipment at lightning speed, without the need for employee involvement. For the company, this means no hiring costs, fast shipping of produced items, and the absence of so-called human errors during packing caused by fatigue, illness, or lack of diligence. Importantly, machines for the same goods on a pallet always use the same amount of film. This allows for easy monitoring of consumption.
